Racehorse Ownership : Racehorse Syndicate Information

If you are genuinely interested in part racehorse ownership in a quality racehorse, it would be well worth you printing out this page as it gives fully comprehensive details about how our syndicates operate and leaves no stone un-turned, so that you know exactly what you are going to get from the experience.

WHY JOIN A RACING SYNDICATE OF OURS ?

Membership of the horse racing syndicates will appeal to both regular racegoers and stay-at-home racing enthusiasts. We currently have syndicate members located the length and breadth of the country, from Scotland right down to the Isle of Wight. Strange as it may seem, even though we are based in Lancashire, we have a very strong membership base in the South, with around a fifth of our clients living south of Watford. Members come from all walks of life, from Bank Managers to factory workers, but on the whole are predominantly everyday working people, who in most cases would not want to risk sole racehorse ownership. Some like a decent bet, whilst others enjoy going to the races to watch their horse run.

Above all though, we guarantee that you will have a lot of fun by joining one of our racing syndicates and make a lot of new friends when the syndicate members meet at the stables and racecourse. Plus, not only will you be kept fully informed about your own horse, we'll gladly bring you news and information on all of the other syndicate horses, along with the occasional piece of info from our trainers. Current members consider this to be a very important benefit of joining and something that has always created a lot of good will in the past.

TRUE ALL-INCLUSIVE PACKAGE

The monthly horse racing syndicate membership fee (which can also be paid off in lump sums) covers all of the following racehorse ownership expenses:

All Training Fees Including:

> Blacksmith

> At Grass & Equine Swimming Pool Charges
> Trainer and Stable Lad's Expenses
> All Race Entry And Jockey Fees
> All Routine And Unexpected Veterinary Fees

> Colours And Authority To Act
> All Racing Syndicate Running Costs And Expenses Incurred Throughout The Agreement Period
> Hospitality Days At The Stables And At The Races

RACECOURSE OWNER'S BADGES

Each racing syndicate member/part owner shall receive one free official Owner's Badge each time the horse runs regardless of the number of people in attendance. This allows you full access to the Owner's & Trainer's Bar/Restaurant and Owner's Viewing area in the Grandstand.

IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE: The vast majority of other racehorse syndicate organisers do NOT give you owner's badges for every time your horse runs, instead offering only Day Member's Badges (which any Tom Dick or Harry can buy!) which exclude you from all owner's areas. Some offer owners badges on a rota basis or subject to availability, with us you get at least one free owner's and trainer's badge every time you go to the races to see your horse run.

Naturally you'll then have access to the Parade Ring to meet the jockey, the Winner's Enclosure if the horse wins or is placed and all other areas that are accessible to owners and trainers, such as the owner's viewing area in the grandstand etc. Please also note that the Syndicate Manager will be in attendance for every run and that the badge allocation for members will have been arranged in advance of the meeting, so all you have to do is turn up and your badge will be waiting for you (this will not be the case with many other racing syndicates). Additional Owner's Badges for friends and family can also be supplied to you at cost, with most racecourses offering them at a discount to our syndicate members.

COMMUNICATION TO CLIENTS

All racehorse syndicate members receive direct communication from the Syndicate Manager himself at all times. This can be done in several ways such as home phone, fax, e-mail or office phone, whichever is convenient to the share owner at the time. Furthermore, the Syndicate Manager will be personally contactable by ordinary telephone between 12pm to 10pm seven days a week. As Mark is based from home, you won't have to incur expensive mobile telephone calls. The level of service and support will be of the highest standard at all times.

"DROP OUT" CLAUSE

One of the most important things to remember before joining any racing syndicate is this: WHAT HAPPENS IF I OR OTHER MEMBERS OF THE SYNDICATE DECIDE TO LEAVE? With our racing syndicates you will not be entering into what could be a lengthy and legally binding partnership, whereby you are jointly and severally liable for all monies owed to the trainer, vet and racing authorities. Our arrangements free you of this burden, in that you'd be entering into a private agreement with the Racing Syndicate Manager, who is solely responsible for all monies owed to the trainer and/or racing authorities. The agreement allows you to "walk away" without any financial liabilities whatsoever. Furthermore, unlike as would be the case with a 12 person joint partnership, if any of the other members "drop out" for whatever reason, you need not worry about being liable in any way for any further payments. YOUR ONLY COMMITMENT IS THAT OF THE STANDARD MONTHLY FEE OVER THE AGREEMENT PERIOD.

RACING SYNDICATE AGREEMENT PERIOD

This is usually 12 months in length for horses aged 3-y-o + and 18 months for 2-year-olds. We consider this ample time for the horse to prove himself on the racecourse. If need be, the agreement can be brought to an end earlier than this, if it is obvious that the horse is not good enough to win. The agreement also stipulates that you may terminate it early without penalty, if the horse becomes seriously injured and/or unable to race. We hope you'll agree that these are very fair arrangements on everyone's part. Should any horse have to be retired through injury, it is our sole responsibility to ensure that the horse be found a good home in retirement and you yourself have no further financial commitments to the syndicate.

SELLING POLICY

Please note that the emphasis of our horse racing syndicates is that if we do have a good horse we like to keep him, so you must not treat racehorse ownership as any sort of financial investment. All serious offers received for one of our horses will of course be carefully considered and voted upon if necessary; but under no circumstances, regardless of how much money is offered, will any horse be sold unless that is the majority wish of the syndicate members. We will always go along with that decision. This guarantees that no horse can ever be forced to go to the sales by any individual syndicate member. The syndicate agreement is designed to allow any individual to leave after the period ends (without penalty) so as not to disrupt the enjoyment of the majority who wish to continue with the horse. This is because we appreciate that some people's financial circumstances can sometimes change for the worse.

OUR OBJECTIVES & BETTING POLICY

Are to provide a quality personal service and great hospitality at the races for all syndicate members. To allow the member to go racing as an owner and mix with well-known racing personalities and famous faces on occasions. Of course, every now and then we will advise members to have a bet on their horse and it is only fair to say that our past record has been excellent on this front (see Winners Gallery section for our history). As we don't involve ourselves with "high-roller" gambling types, our winners have been returned at great prices (best 33/1). However, we would actively discourage anybody thinking of joining just to receive "information" on our trainers' horses, as any successful wagers should strictly be considered as a bonus. It would be nice to think though, that with a little bit of luck, they may cover some of the syndicate fees.

SYNDICATE MEMBERS HOSPITALITY DAYS

Are arranged from time to time at courses such as York and Haydock. For the last two years we have also had a syndicate members' Christmas Party at Uttoxeter races, where members of all syndicates have enjoyed an all-inclusive food and drink package in their own exclusive marquee. This occasion has proved to be an overwhelming success.

JOINING & PAYMENT DETAILS

Our current policy is not to accept payments through this website like most Racing Clubs do, as we appreciate that by joining a small select group of owners like ours, you would expect to be treated as an individual and not just a number. Racing syndicate members are normally selected after an informal stable visit at one of our trainer's premises. However we will now also accept applications over the phone (of course you can e-mail in the first instance) if you are unable to meet us in person and we consider you to be a genuine applicant with the funds available to participate. Payment terms are very flexible and can be made in a number of ways such as lump sum(s), monthly standing order, cheque, cash or credit card (this is usually the method for overseas clients).
